HOW TO BE HAPPY DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

HOW TO BE HAPPY DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

HOW TO BE HAPPY DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

So much has changed over the past 5 months; obviously nothing is the same any more. We have become obsessed with cleaning, sanitizing to maintaining social distance with friends and colleagues. Lord!!!

When you turn on the TV all you hear is Corona Virus and how it is been handled in different countries of the world.

It is normal to be anxious during uncertain times. I watched as Lagos, Nigeria go from partial lockdown to Complete Lockdown, countless number of people were not prepared…The question is even if they were how long will they be prepared for?

Questions on people's mind with no one to clearly answer them!
Truth is I was caught unaware too! When I returned from my village after laying my mama to rest I had barely spent 2 days at home before I resumed to work and the day I resumed work, the very next day my dear State governor declared our first lockdown! Sincerely speaking I wasn’t prepared or ready! I had nothing at home, luckily essential services were allowed to operate, so I basically sourced for food items from my neighborhood and you can imagine the hike in cost of goods….it was pathetic!!! I felt sorry for people with daily income, in my head I thought

“How will they survive?”

I decided to write this piece to encourage someone out there, please note that we are in this together and we will win if we faint not.

HOW DO WE REMAIN CALM AND HAPPY DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC?

Knowing that we can’t change the global uncertainty or the current situation of things, we can certainly change our personal certainty of what we can do in a day in our lives.

BE THANKFUL:

Wondering why? The bible says in everything give thanks; 1Thessalonians 5 vs. 18. I know it is very difficult to be thankful in the midst of a pandemic or crisis or uncertainty, however we have to!

There is so much to be thankful for, you could give thanks for old memories, you could give thanks for times spent with family and friends, you could give thanks for people you met along your journey, you could give thanks for lives you changed and people you impacted positively. Just to mention a few. Think about it.

BUILD A ROUTINE IN YOUR DAY:

Truth, I had never worked from home full time before the pandemic. This uncertain period brought to me an opportunity to try something new. The first week of the lockdown, I was almost carried away, but I fell in line with time. One thing that worked for me was to plan my day and plan how it will go, so I ended up with a routine. Starting from my morning prayers to exercise to working on my computer amongst other things. You should try it too!!!

FIND YOUR JOY SPOT:

Simply put: find what makes you happy or what gives you joy. You can decide to create a playlist of your favorite songs. I particularly love this tip, because this is my go to tip for happiness. I listen to music and watch feel good movies. I have a playlist of my favorite songs on my phone so when I feel sour and want to lift my spirit I go straight to my playlist. You can also find a hobby you love and use it to your advantage.

I hope you find this useful, please share your thoughts below
